The best way to appreciate the surroundings is from a boat on West Lake, and you can admire gentle green hills, pavilions, pagodas, willow trees and lotus blossom as you cruise. Visit Lingyin Temple, one of the largest and most celebrated Buddhist temples in China, and see the Six Harmonies Pagoda and you may choose to climb up its seven storeys, the ceilings of which are decoratively carved and painted.
One of Hangzhou's most celebrated products is its fine tea, which is cultivated at Longjing Village close to the city centre. If it is harvest time you can pick leaves which are specially prepared for you to take home and drink as a unique souvenir of your visit!
